Mother’s Day: Mother's Day, like any other holiday, doesn't mean you can hit pause on the chores, at least not when you own a farm. My mother is the hardest-working woman I will ever know. She is 73 and has yet to retire. While the four children she raised have grown up, moved away and started their own families, she still manages the family farm alongside my dad. Like many do, I visited my mom on Mother's Day. Between barnyard chores, we hiked to the pasture to check the cattle. My mom, as she always does, pointed out the newest calves, cows closest to calving, and the cows likely to be culled. I snapped photos of the mothers and their calves. (Danielle Dewees-Nebraska)
